Natural curves of your spine are good!
Updated: May 22, 2020
Are there good spinal curves and bad spinal curves?
Your spine is made up of three segments. These segments are your cervical, thoracic and lumbar. When viewed from the side, these segments form three natural curves. The cervical is a "c-shaped" curve in your neck, the thoracic spine is "reverse c-shaped" curve in your upper to mid back, and the lumbar spine curves similar to the cervical curve. Together, these curves (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar) in the spine form an "S" shape. Many demands are placed on your spine. It holds up your head, shoulders, and upper back. It gives you support to stand up straight, and gives you flexibility to bend and twist. Your spine protects your spinal cord.
